Elementary Education Blog

Elementary Education Blog

http://www.eledblog.com/

I like this blog because it talks about free programs online that we can integrate in a classroom. It also talks about how parents can use it too. I like the part that comments about how the teacher integrates digital stories where they add pictures, sounds, videos and voices. It sounds interesting and I also agree that we are sometimes afraid to try new things, but there are so many options we can integrate that will make our teaching experience more productive and effective.  This blog also mentions differentiation and integrating art in the curriculum. I am also very interested in ways to meet the students’ needs and how art can be a way for the students to be engaged in an activity as the activity he talked about “describing what you see. “

Technology in Education

 Technology in Education

As a future Elementary teacher, I think technology is becoming more necessary to provide the best instruction methods. Sometimes, we are just afraid that we won't meet the student's need or think we are not that well informed or knowledgeable on technology to teach it, but we are aware that we need to advance with the future generations. This article states, “Effective tech integration must happen across the curriculum in ways that research shows deepen and enhance the learning process.” We shouldn’t be afraid, we all learn in different ways and even though sometimes it takes more time to learn for some of us, we have to get actualized!

Teaching Philosophy

 My Teaching Philosophy

I believe that all the students need their content information and that is why the Essentialist Theory meets that need. I also believe in integrating the Progressivisms’ point of view because it gives the students a more hands on activities and liberty to express their learning abilities. Progressivism provides the students with actively participating in things they are actually interested on and it gives a sense of freedom since you have options. A progressionist’s sees each child as a whole.  I also believe in the Social Reconstructionist because it is actively allowing the students to learn about social issues by actually providing and handling these issues. All these theories facilitate the students' problem solving and critical thinking as well as their social services and meeting the state standards.

How can we describe the texture of a strawberry if we have never touched one?

My Autobiography

 My Autobiography
My name is Azucena  Ontiveros. I grew up in Allende, Coahuila, Mexico. I came to the United States when I was nine. I have three sisters and two brothers. All my sisters second name and mine end with a th at the end. My grandma used to say that my dad loved my mom (Elizabeth) so much that he named us like that. My sisters second names are Janneth, Lizzeth, Lizbeth, and mine is Elizabeth. Now, I have two daughters who I have named Lizbeth and Elizabeth as their second name. I guess just to keep the tradition and because I love those names and my parents. Since I was small, I wanted to be a teacher and that is why I'm here to pursue a bachelor's degree on elementary education with minors on ELL and Bilingual.

This is my parents and siblings.

These are my children.
